Since I am not a regular cook even at home, I usually do not have the ingredients to bake a cake or an elaborate dish. At home we usually eat lightly sautéed vegetables or raw fruits and vegetables and sometimes there is pasta and bread. We don’t eat rotis or rice much – I have not had a bag of flour at home for almost two years now. Hence, when it came to photographing apples, I found a lovely recipe for an apple-caramel cake – but I had no flour, no baking soda and no sugar and there was no electricity to run my microwave either. Hence the “art” below.
