After being hosted by Gaurav & Manasvi last night, I woke up in the morning at their home to find breakfast on the table and tea waiting for me – the couple had left for their respective workplaces while I slept in. I found a sweet note stuck to the bathroom door – awesome couple this. I’m also going to be hanging out at Gaurav’s office tomorrow.
After I’d packed, I was supposed to be meeting @nakulshenoy and he was kind enough to offer to come and pick me up! The weather was gorgeous as I waited with my bags. We were headed to the UB City Mall for lunch.
We had two choices : either Fava or Toscano for lunch at the UB City Mall. Not sure why we picked Fava but it was a fantastic choice. They also serve Sangria.
We ordered the business lunch – the chicken with goat cheese was fabulous! The pork sausages were a bit of a disappointment though because they weren’t what I was expecting, but the variety found in the aisles of supermarkets. There was nothing wrong with their taste though. Also, the Classic Sangria was the safest option – as I realized after ordering the red wine sangria with musk melon as there was no musk melon in it except a large dose of sugary syrup.
Nakul then dropped me off to Mekhri Circle and soon after I set out to the closest Croma to purchase an iPad for the delayed birthday gift for @shadeheart. It was not in stock and they asked me to wait for an hour, which I happily did. After I had made the purchase, I wandered till I found Afriana – very close to the Croma. It serves very simple road-side Chinese and Indian fare and I ordered a plate of steamed chicken dimsums and a bottle of Thums Up.
While sitting at my table, I did a Google Maps search for the closest Natural’s Ice Cream outlets in that area. It showed me something on Triveni Road and the map showed the distance to be about 4 kms, which was perfect for me to digest lunch and dinner.
I did find an ice cream outlet, which had the same flavors that Natural’s stocks but despite the store owner’s reassurances that this was indeed the “original” Natural’s. I wasn’t so sure. But I had walked four kilometers and I ordered a double scoop of tender coconut.
The last leg of the journey back to the room included hailing my first autorickshaw during the entire Bangalore visit. He turned out to be one of the few “honest” ones [ I’d been warned that most were dishonest and would charge a lot more than what the meter showed ].
