Day number seven of my Bangalore visit included lunch at The Biere Club’s Chophouse, suggested by @gkjohn who I was also meeting. As we concluded at the end of our meal, go to the Chophouse for starters and desserts and skip the main course.
Simple and pleasant interiors coupled with courteous staff were some of the positives. A nice place to kill time on a slow afternoon lunch watching people go by on the crossroads below. Large glass windows allow sunlight to pour in.
The first glass of Sangria that I ordered was perfect. By the time I was ready for my second glass, the barman had changed and the second glass was terrible. Extremely high content of whatever citrus syrup they had.
That’s @gkjohn with the prawn cocktail he ordered, which was well made.
Our main courses above : the 6oz steak and the pork chops. The steak was ordered medium rare but was medium and the pork chops were unchewable. After my pork-chops experience with @monkeybarblr, these, at Chophouse, were terrible.
We brought this up with the Chef and were served complimentary desserts, which were excellent. The “coffee toffee” was deliciously out of this world.
I didn’t want to waste a glass of Sangria so asked them to remake it and give it to me in a disposable glass, which they didn’t have, hence the plastic bottle. Unfortunately, as I later realized, they hadn’t remade the Sangria at all and I had to throw it. *waste*
Post lunch, I was headed to Agara Circle where the Canvera office is situated and I was given a tour by the two founders Dhiraj & Peeyush. The visit deserves a separate blog post, which I will post after this one.
June, 2018 UPDATE : I no longer photograph weddings. I am no longer able or willing to recommend Canvera’s products or services. After the visit to Canvera, it was time to meet with a friend’s friend at the Oxford Book Store Cha Bar in the Leela Hotel. Across from the road is this other hotel, which I have not been able to determine the name of. Pretty lettering but don’t know the t and the h or if there is anything else hidden there.
I wanted to buy a new shirt for a meeting the next day as I’d run out of clothes and wandered into the Anokhi store. Did not end up purchasing anything but their clothes hooks inside the changing room were unique. Cloth print blocks.
Great lemon soda, passable samosas and awesome company – with Nivedita at the Cha Bar. I also got some takeaway packed : the chicken asparagus quiche, which was delectable and the egg+mustard sandwich, which was so good that I saved it for breakfast for the next day too!
