Just found out that you can now directly delete a network connection with one of your contacts on LinkedIn – the earlier process required you to write to Customer Support and request them to break the connection.
Now, you can just click this http://www.linkedin.com/connections?displayBreakConnections= and you can choose who to break a connection with!
