UPDATE : October 2010
New Diwali wallpaper for 2010 here.

UPDATE : September 2009
New Diwali wallpaper for 2009 here.

UPDATE : September 2008
A new wallpaper has been designed and made available for download here.
Diwali 2009 Wallpaper

It’s Diwali season, 2006 and a lot of people are reaching the aside blog after searching for “Diwali” on Google. This has prompted me to release yet another Diwali Wallpaper [ in addition to the one released in 2005 ].

This is what it looks like:

Description
The desktop wallpaper has an illustration of Goddess Lakshmi [ or Laxmi ]. She represents wealth, well-being and prosperity and business owners welcome her on the festival of Diwali and pray to her so that she blesses them with wealth and prosperity. This Diwali Wallpaper has been created to give it an old, worn-out paper look to signify the tradition of celebrating Diwali that is being followed from the time of the Ramayana.

The colors used are the colors of turmeric and saffron, which are oft-used “puja” [ meaning “prayer” ]-related materials.

Download using the following links depending on what size you need [ right click the link and select save-as ]:

  • 800 x 600
  • 1024 x 768
  • 2000 x 1500

If your company needs custom wallpapers to send out to clients this Diwali, get in touch! Wishing all clients and readers a very happy and prosperous Diwali!

And here’s another one – a more colorful version.

And here are the download links:

  • 800 x 600
  • 1024 x 768
  • 2000 x 1500

And here’s another one [ a third Diwali wallpaper for Diwali 2006 ].

And here are the download links:

  • 800 x 600
  • 1024 x 768
  • 2000 x 1500

And here’s another one [ a fourth Diwali wallpaper for Diwali 2006 ].

And here are the download links:

  • 800 x 600
  • 1024 x 768
  • 2000 x 1500

🙂 nice wallpapers. thanks for them. I love desi design from heart. Really!

In desi designs.. if i have seen the best work so far.. then its of mangesh bhayde. (aqshar.com/stuffs.html) unfortunately these corporates steal his work and he removed the larger versions.

but have a look. may you will be inspired!

    Hi Ashoomi,

Thank you for stopping by! Hope you had a great Diwali!
I appreciate your comments about the wallpapers 🙂
And there are no “guys” [ in plural ] doing the work here – just me – aside is a one-person enterprise 🙂

    Be in touch!

Wallpaper1, impressive, does http://www.dereklea.com inspire you?
Wallpaper2, cool vector art, what did u use, Illustrator or CorelDRAW?
Wallpaper3, probably the best of the lot. Did the Universal form of Lord Krishna exist in your mind as you did this?
Wallpaper4, I see a big C in the middle, morelike COPYRIGHT, in Bangalore we have a shopping mall called Bangalore Central with a logo like your wallpaper. There is no desi flavour to this one, but its colourful. Aside rocks, no doubt!

Hi Ashwin! Thanks for stopping by and for your two wonderful comments 🙂 I had no idea about Derek Lea, thanks for the link. I used Illustrator and my Wacom tablet for the vector art and the third wallpaper has an impression of Lakshmi not Lord Krishna – although the more I look at it, the more it DOES seem like Lord Krishna. When I did the wallpapers, I didn’t quite keep the desi flavor in mind, just wanted to do something bright and colorful – and the “C” is the result of a pixellate filter in Photoshop 🙂 Cheers!

I dunno if I’ll do the Christmas wallpapers – too much work 🙂 Although it does get me visitors on the blog! Let’s see. If I do some, I’ll mail you a link.

    Love, Naina
