How much is too much? Where do I draw the line? Etc.
I enjoy editing photos but what does “editing” mean? Don’t you mean “re-touching”? Is there a difference? What about make-up? Isn’t that real-life editing? Isn’t selecting images, where you only display / publish five out of the five hundred you shot, also editing?
I try to answer the above and a bit more. Of course, from my perspective. It is how I do things. You might do them differently. I argue that “disclosure” might be your best friend when it comes to deciding “how much editing is enough” and “where does one draw the line”. If you’re transparent about your basic editing practices, you’re good to go – edit away!
Commercial photography is different from photo journalism. When you’re shooting for a client, as a professional photographer, it is a mutually agreed-on decision. When there’s a human subject involved, ask the subject too.
