ABOUT THE SERIES
The “Formae Coloris Australia” Series – Latin for ‘Shapes/Creations of Colour, from Australia’ – invites you to discover meticulously handcrafted pieces, each an independent work of art, born from a passion for expressive form and evocative hues.
Crafted in my studio here in Adelaide, South Australia, each brooch in this series is a testament to an innovative “folded paint” technique. Luscious synthetic polymer paint is carefully manipulated and sculpted, captured in organic, flowing forms. These are then mounted on round wooden bases and sealed with a matte varnish that enhances their rich, tactile quality and the nuanced depth of their colours, as well as protects the piece from daily wear-and-tear. Inspired by the diverse Australian palette – from the subtle greens of eucalyptus leaves and the deep tones of ancient minerals, to the fiery brilliance of outback sunsets and the soft pastels of coastal flora – each piece is an abstracted miniature landscape, a unique “chromascape” to be worn and cherished.
CARE & USE INSTRUCTIONS
Do not keep anything on top of the brooch as it will take on the texture of anything that is pressed onto it.
This is a piece of art jewelry. Just like you wouldn’t sit on a painting, scratch it on purpose or try to bend it, use similar care with this piece.
Ideally, store flat, without anything touching the top.
Do not wrap in plastic. Plastic will stick to varnish / acrylics & leave an impression.
Keep away from solvents like isopropyl alcohol and perfume. If such contact is made by mistake, do not try to wipe it. Leave it alone to dry for a few minutes. The alcohol will evaporate and the varnish will dry on its own.
Excessive heat or cold are best avoided.
If it gets dusty / linty, use a soft dry paint brush or microfiber cloth to wipe the crevices gently.
Press and push the magnet instead of trying to pull it.
