Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla opened for BMW’s India Bridal Fashion Week 2015. I was there photographing it for the shiny Swarovski Crystals that had been used in many of the ensembles. The vast array of ensembles was mind blowing. Each time I view a large collection of garments, I always wonder how many people-hours must have gone into presenting that collection on the runway. Understandably, my brain fails to grasp the vastness of such a task and I have immense respect for fashion designers who do this season after season. ( Regardless of “repetition”, it DID take a lot of work to make that garment! ) Here’s my set of photographs from the runway show. Sonam Kapoor was the show opener and stopper and many more from Bollywood graced the front row.
Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla presented a unique fashion tableau to open BMW India Bridal Fashion Week in association with Swarovski. The show and collections pay homage to Varanasi, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. Also known as Banaras or Kashi, this is a city steeped in legend, mythology, culture and history. The collections are designed to showcase the rich legacy of silks, brocades, gold and silver thread work, carpet weaving that the city is renowned for. These magnificent traditional fabrics and motifs have found new expression through the dazzle & glamour of Swarovski crystals.
Watch out for this shimmering couture collection, using new crystals from the Swarovski color palette, mainly the exquisite Metallic sunshine, the Iridescent Green along with Light Colorado Topaz, set amidst various handcraft techniques complimented with Banarsi net & organza.
