Someone recently quoted Robert Huges [ he passed away ] “The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is given to the less talented as a consolation prize.”
Every once in a while, I turn my head to my right and stare out my window. In the middle of a post-production edit for a photography assignment and I wonder what I am doing. Immediately after each assignment, I cannot bear to look at the images I have made. While editing, I am sometimes so ruthless that nothing remains after I’m done eliminating.
I hope I do not end up standing and staring out that window. I hope I produce something I truly love. Perfect confidence was never the goal but self-satisfaction is.
