The boy and I had a date-day after a long time. We usually go to Select City Walk and this time was no different except the mall had surpassed itself in the art installation for Republic Day. You have to go see it for yourself. The artists from CaraMiniVanStudios have been working on this piece for the last five days. It’s a board of wood, on which they first sketched the piece, then placed metal nails at precise points and then wove thread amongst those nails to create this beautiful piece of work.
Happy Republic Day!
The day had started with a court visit related to the auto-driver incident. I was to give my statement to the magistrate. ( I will be writing about the whole thing from start to finish once the legal proceedings are wrapped up. ) Delhi Police personnel have been most efficient and helpful in getting this to closure as soon as possible and it’s one of those things that makes me look at our Constitution and our Republic Day in a different, non-cynical light.
The rest of the day was spent eating crystal duck dumplings at Yum Yum Cha and drinking lamb soup at Delhi Heights ( DLF Place Mall – the liquid in the soup was yum but the meat balls were dry and tasteless – it felt like they’d skipped the thawing part and just dunked them in the hot soup ). I’m off sugar + dairy + alcohol, so the “maththa tek” trip to Cinnabon ( DLF Place Mall ) meant only the boy stuffed his face with a cinnamon roll and the Mocha Latte Chill. I sat opposite him and took selfies.
All the photos above have been shot on a phone ( will soon disclose which one and do a more detailed feature on the device ) but the last photo above, in particular, blew me away. This is a photo of my fingers as they hold the phone right above the camera lens and the camera still took the photo! None of my other phones would’ve been able to do that off the cuff, I’d have had to focus, re-focus and try 3-4 times before I could get the ridges on my fingers in focus. Can’t wait to talk about this device and share it with you.
