85Broads is a Global Women’s Network whose mission is to generate exceptional professional and social value for its members. Their London chapter held a talk / dinner called “An Evening With Mrs. Moneypenny” on the evening of the 25th of September 2013. I was glad to be part of the audience and very happy to be there.
The venue was The Bleeding Heart restaurant, which had some cute details on the interiors. ( When you read their history on one of the photographs below, you will understand my usage of the word “cute”! )
The Champagne was sponsored by Accenture and Mrs. Moneypenny agreed to the “talk” despite her general dislike for speaking engagements. You had to be there to know all the details. It was an interesting and fun talk.
There was a book signing as well with stacks of shiny new copies of Careers Advice For Ambitious Women. ( Flipkart link for Indian readers and Amazon link for others ).
Mrs. Moneypenny is the pen name of Heather McGregor. She has written a weekly column in the Financial Times for 13 years and also does stand-up comedy!
The talk was fun and interesting and Heather was on a tight time schedule.
There were a LOT of ladies in the tiny space!
A bloody history of the Bleeding Heart!
Below right, Sophia Matveeva introducing Mrs. Moneypenny to the audience.
Once the talk was over and Heather had left, dinner was served and the ladies settled at their respective tables. I’ve always wondered what the solution to actually meeting everyone in the room is with everyone in the room being able to do it. Still wondering.
The audience was very lovely and spirited and there was a lot of conversation about some of the things that Heather had mentioned during her talk.
Skipped the dessert and coffee – for another time hopefully! With 85Broads and / or Mrs. Moneypenny!
Just before we got a cab to the train station. It was a nice evening!
Special thanks to @shefaly.
