Photographs for Sotheby’s! For their Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction in New York, they invited guests, art buyers / dealers and clients for a viewing of some of the highlights of the auction. The viewing was held at The Leela Palace, Chanakyapuri and I got to photograph not only the fabulous art work but also the fabulous guests! Feast your eyes on some lovely Souza and some very beautiful people.
Photographs from this commission appeared on the Sothebys.com website in the following two stories ( which will give you more details about the events as well! Launch the slideshow on their website for more details and captions. ) : An Evening of Contemporary South Asian Art and Music in New Delhi and Fashion And Art On The Agenda In New Delhi
Since this photo feature is being posted after the auction, you can take a look at the results of the auction here as well. Raja Ravi Varma’s “Untitled ( Damyanti )” sold for USD 1,692,500. My favourite, the one by Francis Newton Souza called “Untitled ( Portrait Of A Lady )” sold for USD 143,750.
A photography client from the international art space is always delightful to work for. I still have to pinch myself sometimes to confirm that this is, indeed, real life. Getting to do what I LOVE, while hanging out with beautiful people and being surrounded with fabulous art. I can’t believe I got to see the Souza IN-PERSON!
