If you’re planning to view the bridge and other sights in San Francisco on the top half of an open-top bus like I did, it is COLD. Despite a wool trench and a hat ( you’ll see it in my hand in the selfie ), I froze and shivered and didn’t know whether to continue to take photos or to huddle and hide under my seat!
I walked from the View Point to the Pier down below – there is no drinking water, so carry your own. And it’s a but of a walk up hill once you’re done. But it is totally worth it. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Loved it.
I used BigBusTours – the bus I got on to in the morning was mediocre in terms of quality of commentary ( it was pre-recorded ) and the bus itself was janky. The second bus I got onto after I had walked under the Bridge was great! Live commentator and he was so good! The thing with a bus tour is that once you get down and decide to explore one area, there’s very little time left for you to get down at another spot and explore at leisure. But the great advantage of one of these “hop on hop off” type of tours is that if you’re short on time like I was, and you still want photos, this is the quickest, cheapest way to check out some of the top spots within the city.
