The sky looked like that, which prompted me to put the 70-200 lens on the camera and make a few images. I had hoped that the sunset would turn more dramatic, but it took about 5 minutes for all the colour to drain out of the sky’s canvas.
Both the Mulberry trees are currently loaded with baby fruit and the light looked interesting through the branches of the tree in the backyard.
The Moon looked like, well, the Moon and I wasn’t even going to photograph it – because – photographer’s fatigue. How many times have I photographed the Moon already. And yet, well, I took the shot and I am glad I did. Because once I sat down at my desk to look at the images on the laptop and edit them, I was SHOOK. I don’t think I’ve seen the Moon with quite so much detail in any of my shots! I’m thinking it’s probably because there’s so much air pollution in India, that it eats away a lot of the detail due to the distances. But Adelaide air is MUCH cleaner!
And then the Moon through the Mulberry tree! A bit unexpected, again. Now I have a new perspective – so many possibilities of photographing a distant light through leaves / shapes and getting other leaves and shapes cutting out the light (in this case, the Moon).
The Lemon tree looked gorgeous as well in the setting Sun’s light. The tree is currently LOADED. We recently pulled off a giant lemon that weighed 900gms and I ended up pickling it. Cannot wait to try it once the pickle’s ready.
I turned around and I could see Jamie working on the wood lathe and that looked like a nice composition as well. It was nice to just stand around in the backyard and make photos of whatever I saw.
For quite sometime, I’ve been wondering why my 70-200 lens won’t focus on objects that are closer to the lens. It used to work just fine but something happened and it just wouldn’t auto-focus. Manual focus was fine. So I thought I’d ask ChatGPT about what the problem could be and what the possible solution was. Lo and behold, it was a slider button on the side of the lens that was switched to infinity to 5 meters instead of being switched to FULL.
So, of course I had to then make photographs of stuff in my studio.
Art brooches on every conceivable surface. Some from the gum-flower inspired series called anthesis. Some others. And also pieces from a new project that I’ve been toying with in my mind for months. The copper sheets are here and I pulled one out from it’s packaging to see what it felt like in my hands. A bunch of crinkling later, it isn’t doing what I thought it would do in my hands! Which is interesting because now there’s a new material that I’m going to get to learn to make things with.
I’m grateful for the life that I get to experience. I’m surrounded by art, nature, love and so much beauty. I would love to make more images from in and around my studio and my backyard and Adelaide and South Australia and all of Australia and the world. There is simply so much to experience and see!
