The 9th Indian Sommelier Championship, was conducted by Wi-Not, which is India’s only professionally qualified and managed Wine & Beverage Solutions company. The finale of the championship was at the Pullman Hotel, Aerocity, New Delhi, where seasoned wine professionals and guests were treated to a gala dinner and some of the finest red and white wines.
Pratik Angre was declared the Indian Sommelier Champion for 2016 and he happened to be seated at the same table as our group! Even though this was the first time most of us were meeting Pratik, we cheered for him like we ourselves had won the championship. Good food, wine and great company can do that.
Thank you for having us over Magandeep and Gurjit and Gagan. ( And Gagan, thank you for crossing over the table border and pouring a little bit of that gorgeous KRSMA red into our glasses. )
The dessert was my favourite part of the meal – the Patron Tequila was splendid even though I wasn’t able to finish my shot because already so much wine in the system – I’d have swigged it if we’d stayed just a little longer though.
My favourite wine from the evening was the KRSMA white ( Sauvignon Blanc 2012 ). I also loved their Cabernet Sauvignon. It is an Indian wine but only available in Karnataka and Bombay and New York for now.
