One of my favorite portraits in this series in 2018. To me, Shoba looks like she walked out of the pages of a 1940’s re-colorized magazine.
This portrait series has been a game-changer in my life. After getting to photograph now more than 250 people, I’ve learned to be comfortable with my own appearance. My nose is fine – hey I can breathe! My eyes are fine – yes one’s a bit smaller than the other. My teeth are a bit off-kilter but do I have a happy smile or what? ?
What does happiness look like? It’s when I point my camera at someone (with their consent) & make a portrait. I smile, they smile. I’ve also realized that literally everyone, is beautiful. I’m overwhelmed with the positive vibes this series has generated in my life – as a photographer & as a person.
