Visited Dilli Haat after almost 10-15 years. The last time I’d been there was when I was a teenager and I’d visited with two of my favourite cousin brothers who promised to let me drink beer and they did, only, it turned out to be Root Beer. They tricked me. Root Beer is still available at Dilli Haat and the whole setup seems way more organized than what I remember ( to be fair, I don’t remember much ).
My friend ( Shruti ), picked me up from Khan Market, and we were driven to Dilli Haat, which was fairly easy to locate using Google Maps and local direction givers on the roads of Delhi. It was a chilly, no-Sun winter day and we were properly wrapped up in jackets and shawls. We didn’t have much time and spent about an hour walking around, dropping into permanent and temporary stalls at random.
As you will see from the photographs below, my favourite stall turned out to be the one with camel leather products made by Jawaja Leather. I tweeted about the stall when I was there and a friend of mine actually went to Dilli Haat the same day and bought one of their bags! How cool! I’m going to try and see if I can engage with them for one of the features from my #MadeInIndia series as well.
We ate a plate of momos and left, hopefully I’ll be going again soon. Don’t forget to wear comfortable footwear when you go.
