Ajrakh Loafers by vraj:bhoomi
( Part of the third edition of #MadeInIndia! )
Bhoomi Dani, the founder of vraj:bhoomi, graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology where she specialized in Textile design. The label mainly works with the textile craft called “Ajrakh”, a form of hand block printing with resist dyeing using natural dyestuffs. Vraj:bhoomi shoes are hand crafted by the traditional shoe makers based out of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The shoes are 100% cotton that has been hand-block-printed. It takes about 6 days to create a pair of footwear from scratch.
These are velvet-lined, slip-ons. ( The one that goes on my right foot gave me a bit of a shoe-bite above the heel – probably because of the stitch of the cloth. ) The loafers aren’t meant for long walks in any case. Delicate velvet and cloth means best for a day out in the grass, for a picnic or just chilling comfortably at home.
vraj:bhoomi makes beautiful clothes as well and as you probably already know by now, I have any eyes on some of those.
