The Collection Plumes Précieuses de CHANEL is a Christmas 2014 Limited Edition set. The products and colors have been inspired by embellished feathers and jewellery. I had seen photographs of one of the products that almost all beauty editors had been talking about with unconcealed delight. So when I received a package in the mail from Chanel, I immediately wondered if I would possibly lay my eyes on the very same beauty. On the one hand I wanted to rip open the pacakge to see what it had, on the other, I could not get myself to be disappointed in advance! Of course, packages from Chanel never sit unopened for long and I was literally swooning with delight to find the exquisitely crafted Camélia de Plumes limited edition platinum highlighting powder!
The Waterproof eyeliner in 987 Or Blanc ( literally white gold ) is lovely. I use it on my waterline to make the eyes look more open and bright. And because this isn’t a bright white, it doesn’t create a visually stark separation. Subtle and sparkly. Although it doesn’t stay too long on my waterline. Most products do not stay too long on my waterline but the advantage with this one is that when it leaves, it doesn’t leave a trace under my eyes, which is great.
The collection has two lip colors. I have the Rouge Allure in 227 Volage, which is a light ( lighter than my skin color ) beige and can be used as a light lip color for the day. Almost nude but slightly shimmery. I’m finiding that mixing it with a couple of my other brown / orange lip colors produces a nice light yet colorful shade for the day. I would have preferred the Rouge Allure Velvet in 337 La Flamboyante from this same collection because it’s a nice velvety red – and I prefer reds and oranges. Those go better with my skin colors, in my opinion and red is such a happy festive color! The lipstick casing is also beautiful. Fully covered black outer casing with a golden square visible at the bottom that you push in and it pops out and the entire stick of lipstick inside is gold. Quite a nice touch for a product for the holidays.
And finally. The Camélia de Plumes limited edition platinum highlighting powder. “Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s original Fine Jewelry creations, this precious, limited-edition accessory is embossed with a feather motif in the shape of a camellia.” And it is exquisite. I haven’t used it. I don’t know if I’m going to. The product comes with a beautiful black velvet wrap-around pouch and an applicator brush. The brush is nice because it is slim and helps in applying to a more narrower zone on the skin and then you can turn to its wider side and blend better.
May I also interest you in taking a look at Lisa Eldridge’s short video about this very same makeup collection? I like her videos and her voice is so soothing to my ears.
Happy holidays! Happy shopping with Chanel! ( If you’re in Delhi you can buy this collection from the Chanel beauty store at Select City Walk Mall or from the Chanel boutique at The Imperial Hotel. If you’re in Bombay, Palladium & Phoenix have you covered. The highlighter is definitely a keeper. )
