I’d like to soak up the Sun like this at least once or twice a week – in real life. Real life would be what’s waiting for me back in Gurgaon. But that’s not going to happen because I’m going to be killing myself with what I breathe while I attempt to soak up the Sun that’s trying to break through the smog. Air pollution is waiting for me back home. I am not looking forward to it. Which is also why I’m desperately trying to soak up all the Sun I can get while I’m here at Mai Khao beach in Phuket Island in Thailand.
Woke up late again today because yesterday was tiring. Made coffee for myself and headed straight for the beach. The Sun was hot and high by the time I got there. Proceeded to plonk myself down on a carpet of creepers and sipped on the coffee as I watched the waves, absorbed some sun rays and watched planes leave contrails in the sky.
Yesterday’s snail video was so popular that I was constantly on the lookout for more subjects to make videos of. No luck though. I was too busy toasting my skin. Had to go get a dip in the salt water too, ended up getting whacked around by the giant waves before I gave up and came back to the pool. Even a calf-height wave that rolled back into the sea was so strong that I twisted my knee trying to dig my feet into the sand. Dangerous waters.
Spent all the sunlight hours sprawled atop a scarf laid out on the grass. Face up, then face down, then face up again, then face down again. The hot sun made eme sleepy and the beer pushed along the sleepy agenda further. By the time the Sun hit the horizon, dark grey clouds had rolled in as well and it was ime to finally wrap up, catch a hot shower, stuff my face and get ready for bed.
Dedicated vacation time, just to soak some Sun. THAT should be on everyone’s agenda. Especially if you live in a city like Gurgaon. We spend most of our time indoors and if we do spend it outdoors, it is SO polluted that we’re in a rush to get back indoors. I’ve always looked at runners and marathoners in Delhi / Gurgaon and wondered how they can possibly even consider running, forget actually running.
International news that’s got me glued to Twitter is that Donald Trump is the latest President Elect in America – incidents of discrimination and rude comments directed toward non-white people are all over Twitter. The currency note situation in India has also made things interesting back home. I’m not carrying much Indian currency with me on this trip to Thailand – just a couple of thousand rupess. But I’m in Delhi only for 2-3 days till mid-December and I’m already worried that I might not have time to convert these into legal tender at a bank. Oh well. Will worry about it once I’m back home. For now, I have plans to soak up some more Sun tomorrow. Imma be totally militant about it too. Nothing will come in the way of my skin and sun rays.
Apart from the Vitamin D it helps our bodies produce, the beautiful tan on the skin is another reason why I love it SO goddamn much.
Get some Sun!
