I am just back from my first experience of Colombo Fashion Week and wanted to quickly share what I wore – here’s a chronological look ( from travel to the pre-show events, to my knowledge workshop about blogging and social media, to the shows and to brunch. )
Travel : Urvashi Kaur t-shirt & jacket, Benetton India trousers, Puma sneakers and compression socks ( super useful when it’s a long flight – the Delhi-Colombo flight is just shy of four hours but I’m recovering from a bad case of Plantar Fasciitis, so did not want to take any chances. ) I try to wear no metal when I travel overseas, hence no jewellery.
Pre-Show, Art Connect event : shirt and tulle skirt by Threesome Design, Puma sneakers and the compression socks. Silver ear rings – no idea where I acquired these.
Pre-show event, Music Designed : dress by Anupamaa Dayal, Puma sneakers and, you guessed it – compression socks!
For my Knowledge Workshop, I wore a chikan kurta I’d purchased from Anokhi many years ago, tucked into high-waist American Apparel trousers ( purchased on my 2015 New York trip ) AND Puma sneakers with compression socks. I was on my feet for about a couple of hours, so, had to.
Day One of the shows at Colombo Fashion Week : dress by Wendell Rodricks paired with Puma sneakers. No compression socks because that would have completely killed the look AND I wasn’t going to be standing for too long anyway. Silver jewellery by Flying Fish Accessories.
Day Two of the runways shows, I wore a shirt I borrowed from Akanksha, sarong courtesy Lovi Sarongs, jewellery is my own, a brooch to help secure the sarong a bit more for my peace of mind and American Apparel leather footwear. Also got a chance to see the new collection by Lovi Sarongs and cannot wait for production to start so that I can add more to my wardrobe! They don’t just do sarongs of course ( the sarongs have pockets too ), they have some beautiful Sri Lankan embroideries, jackets, dresses as well. Lovi Sarongs on Instagram.
Day Three of the runways shows, I’m wearing crop top and high-waist trousers courtesy Posh Pride ( I really liked a LOT of their collection and it was super hard to choose! Great fit too. PoshPride on Instagram. ), jewellery is my own ( Gold earrings from Amrapali ). Back to the Puma sneakers and compression socks!
Day Five was brunch and I wore an ikat crop top by Vajor, my trusty Levi’s trousers with lots of pockets and Puma sneakers. Turquoise and silver jewellery is my own, from Lai Designs.
