There was something in the air before this season of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017. It seemed electric somehow and for a change, I really wanted to be there. I am almost always there at AIFW in New Delhi but it can get to be a LOT to absorb and it’s a drill every six months. But this time felt different ( and not just because I’m collaborating with a bunch of brands like last time 😀 ).
As it turns out, Day One of #AIFWSS17 indeed was electric! I’ve never seen such a crowd on Day One ever! It also felt like the first day of Winters in Delhi and that just kicks things into next gear. A whole different wardrobe to look forward to – and the biting mosquitoes will disappear – alongwith all the misery they have wrought on North India in the last few months. And the first runway show – OMG! The Road To Chanderi was lovely. Looking at the fabric transformed into contemporary garments that are ageless, was delightful. MSA 2 was packed to the gills. The video film that had been shot specifically for The Road To Chanderi, the voice over, the live singing, etc. were all really well done. ( The Audio system could have delivered the sound better but I’m not complaining! )
The biggest whinge I have is that there was no mobile network at NSIC’s Exhibition Grounds, which made it impossible for me and many others like me to deliver on their digital promises. I had posted one #OOTD photo before we reached the venue and after that I was only able to post once we’d left the venue at night. Apart from this, the venue is nice, the buggy service is very welcome, the lighting and setup are lovely. I’m thrilled to be able to welcome the winter season along with a neat and large dose of fashion.
For Day One of #AIFWSS17, I wore a head-to-toe look from Vajor.com. I’m working with the brand for the very first time but they have been delighting online shoppers for a few years now. Their Land Of The Blue God Collection caught my eye and their website was helpful in putting the look together. Their in-house stylists have put together their own products and if you are a style-n00b like I used to be, look no further. You can literally just go to their website, look at the photos in the store and decide which look you want to wear and just buy everything that’s on there. For about Rs. 7,000 you can have a WHOLE new look for yourself! ( That’s about how much my entire look in the photos below cost! )
I’m also partnering with Kiko Milano India and all my makeup during fashion week is from their store at the DLF Mall of India in Noida. I will be shooting a beauty focused look tomorrow where I will spill the beans about my favorites from their cosmetics portfolio.
Details of all pieces I wore are at the end of this blog feature. I’ve also included some photos of street style I spotted while grabbing a late lunch and the lovely lights in the evening once we were ready to leave.
More coming tomorrow!

I can’t wait to style this shirt with high-waist denim shorts – but now only in the Summer Season!
