Spotted some lovely art at the India Art Fair, 2017. ( There is an entry fee – they graciously sent me VIP passes. You can buy tickets at the entrance. ) Being held at NSIC Exhibition Grounds, Okhla, New Delhi till the 5th of February. Go to their website to see the entire schedule – including speaker sessions. The amount of art displayed is mind-boggling – I barely made it thought 20% of the entire layout, which is why I’m headed there for the coming three days. ( I have a couple of photography gigs I’m shooting for clients too. )
It is chilly in the evenings after the Sun sets. Lots of places to eat and drink, including CAARA and Blue Tokai Coffee. No water-point – you’ll have to buy water – can’t bring it in either because of security restrictions.
It is fairly crowded this season. I usually recommend coming in during the day when the crowds are thin but no such luck here. Considering MCH Swiss Exhibitions (Basel) Ltd.s investment in the India Art Fair, I’m not surprised. Hopefully, many more good things coming to the India art scene! Exciting times ahead.
Even if you don’t necessarily “get” art, come. There’s plenty of seating to relax, grab a bite, a glass of wine and watch the Sun set, listen to the chirping of huge groups of Mynah birds that come to roost on the surrounding trees. There’s also “people watching” as art-lovers and connoisseurs from all over the world come to the India Art Fair to look at what Indian artists ( and artists of other nationalities ) have to offer.
I *might* be photographing street style for an international publication, so come by and say hello to my yellow camera!
