This one’s warm and “Caramel” on my skin. Can be worn in the evenings in the Indian Summer but most of you might prefer to wear it in the Winter Season. I’m in love with the decadence of this one so I’m happy to wear it all the time. It has a large sillage area ( you will turn heads when you enter a room wearing this – not in a bad way ) and it has fantastic longevity ( it stays on my skin the entire day and gets better as it ages ).
The boy can’t get enough of sniffing this on me, so that’s a huge #WIN 😉
At first I thought it was a bit too heavy for my tastes – as I sniffed it right out of the bottle. But then I gave it a few minutes on my wrist and it is divine! A warm, sweet fragrance – more toward the strong side – so if you have an extremely sensitive nose, you might want to approach the bottle spray tentatively.
Dahlia Divin Le Nectar is for women – undoubtedly. A sensual, strong, warm, sweet, floral fragrance that feels luxurious and lavish without going overboard. I really like the creamy feel of the liquid on my skin.
Givenchy launches the third addition to the Dahlia Divin collection in June 2016 as the intensive version named Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum, after the original Eau de Parfum from 2014 and lighter Dahlia Divin Eau de Toilette version from 2015. The collection follows the theme of Dahlia Noir fragrance line started in 2011.
The fragrance is designed by Francois Demachy and the advertised notes are Sambac Jasmine, Mimosa Flower, Vanilla Musk, Rose, Sandalwood and Vetiver. My nose gets a heavy “caramel” fragrance, which I love. And there’s definitely a woody . musky base, without which I doubt I would like this as much as I do. The Vetiver probably also balances out the warm floral sweetness but my nose is unable to detect a clear Vetiver scent. The “caramel” I’m sniffing is probably a mix of the tonka bean and vanilla.
The design and material of the bottle do injustice to the fragrance though. Had the bottle cap been glass, it might have added that heavy luxurious touch that this fragrance deserves. Currently, the cap is plastic and the metallic neck of the bottle gets caught in it sometimes while the plastic top is being removed. Could have been better build quality. But as long as there’s this decadent liquid in the bottle and it doesn’t leak, I don’t really care all that much – I’m sure I’m going to use up all of it much before the bottle design starts to weigh on me 😛
If you are planning to try this one, I highly recommend that you do not sniff it right on the spray on the bottle – spray it on your wrist, wave the wrist in the air a few times and then bring the wrist closer to your nose slowly – sniffing all the while. The opening notes are strong and heavy and the fragrance matures well as you go to the mid notes and then the end notes. The mid notes are where the magic begins. I read somewhere online that this fragrance is “powdery” and I completely disagree – there’s nothing powdery about this one, it is rich and creamy all the way.
Happy to have added this one to my ever-growing collection! Thank you for sending this over Givenchy! I love it! Great way to start anticipating the Winters in India.
